Eparency Polyurethane Doming Resin

This 1:1 mix doming resin is basically the same as our original 2:1 mix doming resin. All ingredients and finished result are exactly the same except the mixing ratio of part A and B. The reason for developing an alternative to the original doming resin is because there is report that our customers have made mistakes on mixing ratio. Initially I thought 2:1 mixing ratio would be ok with our customers as most of them are running professional printing business. However, 2:1 mixing ratio increases the chance of people making mistakes. The brain naturally think of 1:1 mix. Occasionally customers pour equal parts of A and B and they donot even remember how much they just pour. And they blame the products. Therefore, I have developed the doming resin with 1:1 mixing ratio, while the original 2:1 ratio doming resin is still for sale until it loses popularity to this resin.

Eparency Doming Resin is 100% weather and UV proof. Its Australian made for Australian harsh weather. Eparency Doming Resin requires mixing resin A and resin Part B together before application. Just apply it on top of the surface to be domed. Application need to be done within potlife. The resin will dry in one to eight hours. It cures to be flexible bendable transparent solid. Polyurethane doming resin is used in a variety of applications such as labels, name plates and logos . It is also used in the automotive industry for emblems and badges . It has excellent UV resistance and is suitable for outdoor use.

Instruction: Mix eparency doming part A and part B thoroughly. Next step is to get rid of these mixing bubbles. Before pouring the eparency doming resin, the mixture need to be vacuumed for a couple of minutes till all bubble has disappeared. The vacuum process could take up to 5 minutes. Donot vacuum for too long as the mixture might become too thick to pour. Although this doming resin is designed to minimise bubble, all care need to be taken when pouring the resin to avoid introduce new bubbles. Make sure to finish pouring the resin within its working time. Always have a needle and alcohol spray ready in case some bubbles appear after pouring. Use needle to poke and break the bubbles. If bubbles are too stubborn to go, last resort is to use the alcohol spray. Please keep the Doming thickness less than 2mm to avoid resin overflow. While the resin is design to stop on the edge, too much gravity would overthrow the resin over the edge. After pouring the Eparency doming resin, place the finished pieces on levelled surface till it’s touch-dry. The resultant elastomer is crystal clear and flexible in nature for doming, coating, encapsulation application, and has good adhesion to various substrates. It is used to give three dimension effects to printed levels and is largely used for aesthetic and durability of the product.

Tools for successful doming:
Vacuum - must have.
Torpedo level - must have. To ensure object is domed on levelled surface
Timer - optional. To ensure finishing pouring doming resin within its pot life

Polyurethane doming is a process that involves the application of a specialized liquid resin on a flexible material, such as vinyl or PVC, to create a domed, three-dimensional effect. This resin, when cured, forms a protective layer that enhances the durability and aesthetic appeal of the flexible material. The resulting product is commonly known as a polyurethane dome or simply a domed label.
##The Advantages of Polyurethane Doming
Polyurethane doming offers numerous advantages over traditional flexible materials. Let's take a closer look at some of these benefits:

  1. Enhanced Durability: The polyurethane resin used in the doming process provides a protective layer that shields the underlying flexible material from scratches, UV radiation, and chemical exposure. This makes the material highly resistant to wear and tear, ensuring a longer lifespan.
  2. Visual Appeal: The doming process creates a visually striking effect by adding depth and dimension to the flexible material. The glossy finish and vibrant colors of the polyurethane domes enhance the overall aesthetics of products, making them more attention-grabbing and professional-looking.
  3. Flexibility: Despite its protective layer, polyurethane doming retains the flexibility of the underlying material. This makes it suitable for a wide range of applications, including curved surfaces and irregular shapes. The flexibility of polyurethane domes also allows them to conform seamlessly to the contours of products, resulting in a clean and polished appearance.
  4. Weather Resistance: The polyurethane resin used in doming provides excellent weather resistance, making it ideal for outdoor applications. It can withstand extreme temperatures, moisture, and UV radiation without deteriorating or fading. This weather resistance ensures that the flexible material remains intact and visually appealing, even in harsh conditions.
  5. Customization Options: Polyurethane doming offers endless customization possibilities. The resin can be tinted with various colors, allowing for vibrant and eye-catching designs. Additionally, it can be used to encapsulate custom graphics, logos, or text, giving products a unique and personalized touch.
    ##Applications of Polyurethane Doming
Polyurethane doming has diverse applications across various industries. Here are a few examples:
  6. Logos and Branding: Polyurethane domes are commonly used to create customized labels, decals, and badges for branding purposes. The domed labels add a premium and professional look to products, enhancing brand recognition and perceived value.
  7. Product Identification: Polyurethane domed labels are often used as product identification labels, providing essential information such as model numbers, serial numbers, and safety warnings. The durable and weather-resistant properties of the domed labels ensure that the information remains intact and readable over time.
  8. Promotional Merchandise: Polyurethane domed keychains, magnets, and promotional products are highly sought after for their visual appeal and durability. The domed effect makes these products stand out, capturing the attention of potential customers and leaving a lasting impression.
  9. Automotive and Electronics: Polyurethane doming is extensively used in the automotive and electronics industries for labeling and cosmetic purposes. Domed emblems, control panels, and overlays add a touch of sophistication to vehicles and electronic devices, enhancing their overall aesthetics.
  10. Industrial Applications: Polyurethane doming is also utilized in industrial applications where durable and visually appealing labels or markers are required. Examples include asset tracking labels, warning signs, and equipment tags.
